THRESHOLD BY G.M. FORD

THRESHOLD BY G.M. FORD is a fast paced police thriller with really great characters.  The book is short,(245 pages) but chocked full of page turning, fast paced story.  Actually, it starts off with two separate plot lines that towards the middle converge.  I kept wanting to turn the pages to find out just what's going to happen next.

The main character Det.Sgt Michael (Mickey) Dolan, having faced not only the end of his marriage, but multiple excessive force complaints is given his last chance to redeem himself & stay on the force.  The job find the family of a very wealth very influential man.  Dolan has to find them fast, even though he finds out the guy has been abusing his kids.
The second main character is rather unusual. Six foot tall "silver angle" Grace Pressman . She and her mother Eve help abused women and children get out of bad situations and hides/relocates them.

I like this book so much I cant wait to see if Ford chooses to continue his character(s) in a series.

MURDER,STAGE LEFT BY ROBERT GOLDSBOROUGH

MURDER,STAGE LEFT BY ROBERT GOLDSBOROUGH is the latest in the Nero Wolfe series.  I have been a huge fan of Mr. Wolfe's & Archie for many many years.  After Rex Stout died I thought this was the end of it, but to my great pleasure, Mr Goldsborough revived the series.  I very seldom like it when authors take over a series but this is the exception. Mr Goldsborough has captured the very essence of all the characters from Wolfe to Sgt Stebbins, he has continued the characters superbly .

In MURDER,STAGE LEFT, Mr.Wolfe is tasked to help of friend of a friend find out what trouble is brewing in a broadway production. But before Archie can get a handle on the issue, murder occurs.  Mr.  Wolfe is faced with multiple suspects with multiple stories, but who's the murderer?

True to form Mr.Goldsborough has come thru again and given the reader & fan of Nero Wolfe another good mystery to help solve.

VICTORIA BY DAISY GOODWIN

VICTORIA BY DAISY GOODWIN tell the back story of one of the Monarchs most well known queens, Victoria.  When I think of Queen Victoria I think of her as the woman who spent her life mourning her love, Prince Albert.  Daisy Goodwin gives us the whole picture of Victoria.  Starting near here 18th birthday, when her relative currently on the throne is dying. Victoria knows if the king lasts till she turns 18 she will be queen.  Follow Victoria in her early life as queen of England.

As a historical fiction junkie I found that I was so immersed into this book that the time flew!  I found I was transported back to Victorian England in all its wonder and pageantry.  You find yourself walking with Victoria the descriptions and details are so vivid.  This is the second book from this author I have read and she will continue to be one of my favorites in historical fiction writers. I highly recommend this book to fellow historical fiction junkies. It a long book but well worth the read.

A MOVING SCREEN BY KRIS ALLIS

A MOVING SCREEN BY KRIS ALLIS- is a fast paced police thriller.  The book just speeds along with a non stop thrill ride!

Det.Dennis Cane of homicide knows there's a serial killer but he's having a hard time convincing his superior of this. He has figured out that the killer is burning women to death on the dates of June 16th and 24th.  For the last three years Cane's only lead is a black thread found at crime scenes in different jurisdictions. One night he gets a break, a survivor.  Follow Det.Cane as he tracks down this person who's burning women alive!

I found the research that the author did very indepth.  I have been in a burn unit so I know from first hand knowledge the look, the procedure and the smell that's there (my brother was the patient)  The author captured that very well.  I was so immersed into the book I didnt want to tear myself away from it! I cant wait for more books from this author.  For fans of page turning thrillers A MOVING SCREEN is a MUST READ~

PATIENT H.M A STORY OF MEMORY,MADNESS & FAMILY SECRETS BY LUKE DITTRICH

PATIENT H.M. A STORY OF MEMORY,MADNESS & FAMILY SECRETS BY LUKE DITTRICH .  When I chose this book from goodreads the blurb intrigued me. I had never heard of patient H.M & my curiosity was peaked.  I am very happy I won this book from goodreads.

The authors grandfather, a famous neurosurgeon is the co subject of this book along with his patient H.M Henry Molaison we now know.  This book is a combination memoir , medical science and in my opinion the gathering of how & why  Dittrich's grandfather literally took the memory from patient HM.  We find out that Dittrich's grandmother had mental health issues and ended up institutionalized at a time where electric shock therapy ,  steamy hot and freezing cold baths were some of the "treatments" to combat mental illness.  We learn about HM, who as a child was hit by a bicycle thus starting the seizures that led to the doctor performing surgery on him.

I found that not only did I learn about the history of neurosurgery but the history of mental illness and the "cures".  I found myself every evening turning the pages, delving into the life of not only HM but Mr.Dittrich's family & their secrets.  I found this one of the most in-depth and intriguing memories I've every read.

GRAVE PREDICTIONS:TALES OF MANKIND'S POST-APOCALYPTIC,DYSTOPIAN AND DISASTROUS DESTINY BY DREW FORD(EDITOR)

GRAVE PREDICTIONS:TALES OF MANKIND'S POST-APOCALYPTIC,DYSTOPIAN AND DISASTROUS DESTINY BY DREW FORD(EDITOR) are short stories by some of the A-listers of Sci-fi as well as some I dont recognize.  This is a very depressing look at how our world could end in the eyes of authors such as Ray Bradbury, Stephen King, etc.  Not exactly a sunny outlook on the end of the world, I found most of the stories new to me, with the exception of Stephen King's The End of the Whole Mess, which is one of my favorite SK shorts.

So if you are tired of all the old cliche "happily ever after" stories this one will be a perfect edition to your reading list.

NIGHTFALL BY JAKE HALPERN

NIGHTFALL BY JAKE HALPERN kept me reading well into the night.  This, I know is a YA book but even as a way older adult I couldnt put it down.  Just when you think you have a handle on whats going to happen ne FRFW3700LW0xt the book takes a complete 360 degree turn and knocks you for a loop!  It does drag a bit in the middle but picks right back up with another whammy of a twist!

I really was happy to see an new plot out there. Just think,  fourteen years of sun then the sun starts setting, the people start packing & they get off the island before total darkness comes for fourteen years.  Its not just the idea of the timeline but what happens when the darkness does come.  For Marin, Line and Kana its a heart pounding race against not only the darkness , but whatever is out there in the night that is chasing th

PROMISES OF WRATH BY STEVE MCHUGH

PROMISE OF WRATH BY STEVE MCHUGH- I have become a die hard McHugh fan, following Nate Garrett & his friends as they serve and protect the realms of this world.  Nate, who always seems to find trouble (or does it find him?),this time has be teleported to an alternate realm by an ancient stone tablet, along with not only his friends , but one of his fiercest enemies (or is he?) Nate and company battle blood elves, really bad dudes in order to save his friend Chloe from a horrible death but also Nate must find a way out of this realm to stop the bad guys from taking over the Earth realms, which means getting back to where they belong.

The plot sounds complicated but its got just the right amount of  adventure, swordplay and good/bad guys to make this a very good cliffhanger.  I enjoy not only the fast paced plots but the action, the battles and yes even the cliffhanger at the end.

ONCE GONE (RILEY PAIGE MYSTERY # 1) BY BLAKE PIERCE

ONCE GONE (RILEY PAIGE MYSTERY #1 BY BLAKE PIERCE is a page turning, fast paced & heart stopping read!  The first in the series that proves to be a long running series in my opinion.

Riley Paige, FBI agent, mother & victim.  Riley is on leave after being held and tortured by the serial killer named Peterson.  Riley blew him up,or did she?  Riley is suffering for PTSD when her partner comes to her home wanting her back on the job. This time its a serial killer who's killing women after he tortures them, kills them & poses them .  Riley's not sure she can handle that yet.

If you are a fan of the fast paced, high action & an ending you dont see coming, Once Gone & Riley Paige is for you.   I cant wait to read more in the series.

APPRENTICE IN DEATH BY J D ROBB

APPRENTICE IN DEATH BY JD ROBB is the 43rd book in the Eve Dallas series. as with the first book and all the books in between, its a page turner. The action starts off right away with Eve, just getting ready to go off duty, getting tagged for a multiple shooting at the skating rink in the park. When Eve arrives the scene is one of chaos and dearth and Eve and Peabody and of course her team (including Rourke) are on the hunt again.

I've been a diehard fan for many years and its quite clear that Robb nor myself are ready to abandon Eve Dallas and company

SLINGSHOT A SPY CATCHER NOVEL BY MATTHEW DUNN

ONE WAS LOST BY NATALIE D.RICHARDS

I received this book free from goodreads in exchange for a review.ONE WAS LOST BY NATALIE D.RICHARDS is a young adult story (no I am not a young adult) where a group of seniors hiking in the woods with two teachers suddenly find themselves trying to survive, while being hunted by a seemingly unknown killer.

The pace was fast as I continued to flip page after page following the group of four.  I kept wanting to know where is the bad guy going to strike, who is going to die, will they even get out of the woods, which goes to the suspense in the book!

As for the subplot of the book, the relationship of our two main characters, I'm not so sure it was really relevant or necessary to expand the past issues .  Other than that, I really enjoyed the book, the plot and the ending.  Who would have realized?  (no, I'm not telling you who done it!)  Read the book and find out.  I think, even though as and adult you will enjoy this novel.

THE MONOGRAM MURDERS BY SOPHIE HANNAH

THE MONOGRAM MURDERS BY SOPHIE HANNAH.  I have been reading and re reading Agatha Christie mysteries since I was in high school many, many many years ago.  I still watch all the Hercule Poirot movies over and over again and love them still.  I was so pleased to see someone has tried to revive the Hercule Poirot series. I say tried because I think the author missed by a longshot.  I only got halfway thru this book before giving up on it as a lost cause.  I did not see the Hercule Poirot of Christie's but a very pale shadow of  an attempt to revive the character.

For example: One Poirot would never frequent a dingy diner . Two Poirot would not have left his lodgings & his butler for a so so guesthouse unless on a case.  Three: Poirot would never be hopping a bus period, let alone hop a bus just to clear the mind, he abhors those who run about looking here and there for clues.  The list goes on.  As for the police detective, there is no seasoned policeman that stupid, even Japp had some smarts! Many authors have tried, and succeeded in reviving or taking over a series but Ms Hannah may not be the one to take over the great lady of mystery Agatha Christie's books  I guess re reading my old Christie stories is going to be my only Christie fix for awhile longer.

SOMETHING BURIED SOMETHING BLUE BY WENDY CORSI STAUB

I recieved this book free in exchange for a review.  SOMETHING BURIED,SOMETHING BLUE BY WENDY CORSI STAUB is the second in the Lily Dale mystery series.  Bella Jordan the main character is living now in Lily Dale, a community of psychics mediums and generally nice people.  She agrees to host, organize an try to pull off a wedding for a bridezilla and her soon to be husband.

Somewhere buried in 287 pages is a mystery, but after reading the book its a mystery where !  We did finally manage to find a victim after fourteen chapters of the book. I love a good mystery and I love to be kept in suspense but fourteen chapters is just a tad too much reading trying to slog thru to find four chapters (the last four) on the deadly deed and who done it.

THE HAUNTING OF BECHDEL MANSION: A HAUNTED HOUSE MYSTERY - BOOK 0 BY ROGER HAYDEN

I recieved this book free in exchange for a review.  THE HAUNTING OF BECHDEL MANSION: A HAUNTED HOUSE MYSTERY - BOOK 0  BY ROGER HAYDEN is the first in a serialized series about Bechdel mansion, where a horrendous murder occurred during a wedding rehearsal party back in the 70's

This book starts with the history of the Bechdel's and fast forwards to "present" day when a young couple moves into the house.  Mary Malone and her husband Curtis are the main characters of the story,Mary with a talent of psychic abilities is the main protagonist in the story as well as the house itself.

I love haunted horror stories.  The fact that this is a serialized series makes no never mind to me.  The cliffhanger ending to this book makes it even more of a teaser when it comes to the mystery part of it.

The characters are from everyday life, each depicted as accurate and genuine as if meeting them on a street.  This is a perfect series for the Halloween scene, an easy read & a really good book.

NIGHT WATCH FOR IRIS & ROY JOHANSEN

First off, I recieved this book from goodreads free in exchange for a review.  Now that that is out of the way I HAVE to tell you about NIGHT WATCH BY IRIS & ROY JOHANSEN.  This is the fourth book in the Kendra Michaels series but a first time read for me. And boy was I hooked!  ( I ordered 1-3 yesterday!)

Kendra Michaels,  born blind & lived her life that way for twenty years, when the miracles of miracles happened when Dr. Charles Waldridge came into her life with a new procedure to give her the gift of sight.  Kendra, with her new found sight seems to find trouble, or in this case it finds her.  Dr. Waldridge comes to her telling her that they are in grave danger.  Kendra wants to help and she calls on her friend in the FBI to help her.  Then Lynch shows. Sexy hot and mysterious Lynch comes back just in the nick of time because Kendra becomes a target as well.

I fell in real deep with this series and hope with its action, adventure & good and bad characters keeps going strong.  Page after page I read, immersed in Kendra's latest action packed book.  Characters that I sit there night after night reading and hoping Kendra finds her friend without getting killed herself.  Sitting there night after night so absorbed in the story I lost track of time I was so engrossed. This one's a kick ass book!  If you are a action packed book fan this ones for you.

LETHAL LIES BY LARA LACOMBE is the first book of this authors I've read.  It wont be the last!   I am not a huge reader of Harlequin romances but I thought what the heck,go for it!  I enjoyed every page of this story.  The fast pace, the danger,  the suspense & yes the romance all wrapped up in a very good book! THE DAUGHTER OF UNION COUNTY BY FRANCINE THOMAS HOWARD

i recieved this book THE DAUGHTER OF UNION COUNTY BY FRANCINE THOMAS HOWARD from goodreads free in exchange for a review.

I loathe to write a bad review on a book because I dont want to hurt anyones career, but its my promise to goodreads that I do so.

I struggled to get through this because to me it was beyond boring.  No highlights stick out in my mind as there were really no highlights to the story. I pretty much have forgotten the book already and I finished it yesterday, after much struggle.

If you go for one dimensional truly snoring characters with no redeemable qualities then this one's for you , if not, dont bother

HOLLOW HOUSE BY GREG CHAPMAN

HOLLOW HOUSE BY GREG CHAPMAN rates a ten on my weird & scary meter!  This book is so intense I forgot to breath while reading it!  From page one till the very odd ending I was hooked!  Set in a anywhere USA town, Hollow House takes the reader on a fast paced, scary & bizarre ride!
Characters that are as real as your neighbors & an ending that will surprise you & scare you to death.

This is the first book I have read by Mr. Chapman and it wont be the last.  Perfect for the coming Halloween season.  I love Halloween because books like HOLLOW HOUSE make themselves known.

RENAISSANCE BY TIMOTHY FRERIKS

I recieved this book free from goodreads in exchange for a review.  It is not very often that I read a book in a couple of days but RENAISSANCE BY TIMOTHY FRERIKS is not a book you want to put down
This book is like a rollercoaster, starts out slow and climbs, plunges, twists turns and turns you upside down.  What bothered me the most is that the plot of Russia/Turkey and WWIII could not be far out of the scope of reality.  I kept telling myself to go to bed but I just had to find out what happens!

Time travel/sci fi mix is not my best forte but I took a chance on RENAISSANCE and found that this was a WOW book.  This one's a definite keeper/re-read book in my view.

THE STORM CLIVE CUSSLER

I love CLIVE CUSSLER novels.  I have been enjoying them since high school many many moons ago.  and THE STORM is no different.  Kurt Austin & company have to figure out why one of the NUMA crew burned themselves out in the middle of the ocean.  From the moment they arrive on the boat the action shifts into full throttle.

As always, Cussler takes us to locations all over the world , gives the reader a heart stopping page turning adventure and an ending you never saw coming!

THE BEAST OF THE CLAN KINCAID BY LILY BLACKWOOD

first of all I received this book free in exchange for a honest review.   WOW!  I love historical fiction and love the historical fiction where guys in kilts fight, love & conquer and LILY BLACKWOODS THE BEAST OF THE CLAN KINCAID has all three.

Niall Braewick, as a child was taken away and hidden while his parents were killed. Niall's father, the Laird of Kincaid made sure he had kin to not only avenge his death but to take his heritage and castle back when the time was right.

This book is loaded with action, sword fights, & lust & I loved every page of it.   I cant wait for the next in the series.

TITANS BY LEILA MEACHAM

I received this book free in exchange for a review.  TITANS BY LEILA MEACHAM is my first book I've read by the author.  I loved every page!

Texas in the era of "horseless carriages"  Sam and Nathan find they really arent who they think they are.  As they both come to realize who they are, the questions arise from both of them.  First and foremost, betray the ones they have been raised by,or not?

This is historical fiction at its best.  The birth of the Texas oil boom, the horseless carriage vs the horse.  Two people trying to make decisions that will change not only their lives but loved ones as well.

I loved following Sam & Nathan as they discover who they really are.  The people the places are described so well,I felt like I was walking beside them.  I cant wait to read more from this author.

BROTHERHOOD IN DEATH BY J.D. ROBB

As with every one of J.D. ROBBs "in death " series, I have read them all and will continue to read all of them as they come out.

BROTHERHOOD IN DEATH,Eve faces her demons when she finds wealthy & influential men hung, beaten, sodomized and then killed.  It gets personal for Eve , very very personal.  Mr.Mira as she calls him is related to one of the victims.

Eve stands for all victims and will always stand with the victim but this time she's having trouble standing for the dead men.  (read and find out why)

This Eve Dallas takes a dark turn.  It disturbed even me. It is so intense with the emotions of Eve & other characters.  This one will stand out among her many stories.  This does not detract from the fact that JD ROBB has continued & will continue (I hope)  to bring Eve, Roarke & Eve's friends & fellow officers in print.

Even after reading forty two of Robbs in death series i still crave more.  The author draws the reader into her stories whether they discuss issues that are dark like BROTHERHOOD IN DEATH or whether we get to listen to Peabody talk about McNabbs sexy ass, we want to read more.  Robb has more to write and Eva Dallas has more to say & do.

TOKYO KILL BY BARRY LANCET

TOKYO KILL BY BARRY LANCET is the second book in the series as well as the second book of his I've read.  I read the first book and thought wow the author cant top this but in TOKYO KILL he did manage to top it.
Mr. Lancet writes a book that hits the ground running. Fast paced,  and twists and turns that keeps you off balance to the very end.
Jim Brodie,  mild mannered antique dealer & kick ass owner of a Japanese detective agency  gets mixed up with the worst of the worst, the triads who are gang members on steroids when it comes to killing and maiming.  His client a WWII Japanese officer who is the triads target.

This Jim Brodie series is a must read for thriller lovers.

GODPRETTY IN THE TOBACCO FIELD BY KIM MICHELE RICHARDSON

GODPRETTY IN THE TOBACCO FIELD BY KIM MICHELE RICHARDSON is set in 1969 Nameless  Kentucky.  A time where blacks and whites do not mix or even think about mixed relationships.  Tobacco is the crop of choice and little girls dream of leaving the pain and poverty.

I was literally transported back, being a ghost in the corner & watching RubyLyn grow up with her uncle Gunnar, God fearing tobacco owner & hardass.  RubyLyn wants more to her life than hardship, pain & working the fields.

The sights, sounds & the reality of the sixties come to life in Richardson's writing.  You cant help but become involved with RubyLyn and her wants, & needs of a sixteen year old girl.  You cant help but wish RubyLyn comes out good in the end.  And you HAVE to read the entire book because of the excellent writing the author has put into the book and into RubyLyn

HELL'S GATE BY MARY MASTERS

WOW does not even begin to describe HELL'S GATE BY MARY MASTERS!  I give it a ten out of ten on the old creepy story meter!  From the first page to the very end HELL'S GATE takes you into a town where when you say "The devil made me do it"  is taken literally.  I haven't been this scared reading a book since Stephen King's Salem's Lot hit the shelves many moons ago.

Set in a little town where things just start falling apart piece by piece and things literally go to the devil, the "good guys" of the story are trying to save the day and the devil wants their souls along with the rest of the towns.
-
If you want to be scared out of you socks then you have to read HELL'S GATE BY MARY MASTERS.

FRESHWATER AQUARIUMS FOR DUMMIES BY MANNY HARGROVE

FRESHWATER AQUARIUMS FOR DUMMIES BY MADDY HARGROVE might not have a current publication day (2006) but it is still the best fish book I've read so far.  I am returning into the world of freshwater aquariums after about a ten year hiatus and needed a refresher course on keeping freshwater fish & the aquariums they live in .  I have always been a big fan of the "dummies" series because the experts who write them get down on my level using little technical terms and lots of one syllable words that I can understand.   This book is not only good for people like me returning to the fishy world by newbies & even experienced people can maybe learn a thing or two from it.  One good thing about the book is you dont need to read it all you can skip chapters that are not needed & the information keeps coming and coming .  Well worth the cost this one is going in my shelf of reference for when I and my finny friends need a little advice.

WHO WINS : HISTORY BY CLAY SWARTZ

i recieved this book from goodreads in exchange for a review.  WHO WINS:HISTORY BY CLAY SWARTZ is a book that is not a book! Confused?  This book pits people from history, George Washington, Lincoln, Ghandi, etc against each other in a game of who would win a variety of challenges.  For instance:  Ping Pong Washington or Lincoln?  You also get a brief history of the person along with some fast facts.  I know this is not a book for older people like me but I found the description of it intriguing and had to see it for myself.  the author states that there are over 100,000 variations of this "book" and with the stats on the bottom of who excels in what its kinda a book really fun game and I had tons of fun just last night for a couple of hours pitting people of history like Margaret Thatcher vs Alexander the Great on who would win an Indy 500 challenge.  Get your kids engaged in history & have fun doing it at the same time.  This big kid had a ball with it!

JOURNEY TO MUNICH BY JACQUELINE WINSPEAR

I recieved this book from goodreads free in exchange for a review. JOURNEY TO MUNICH BY JACQUELINE WINSPEAR is the 12th in the Maisie Dobbs series. I have not ready any of the previous Maisie Dobbs books except the first book of the series so I am going to review this as a Masie newby!

Masie, recovering from the loss of her husband & child is in England at the home of a friend, when she is approached by an intelligence agent friend to take a secret undercover mission to Nazi Germany.  The book gave me loads of details of surroundings and characters so I could keep up with it.

This is a very darkly written book, written in a very dark time.  Maisie in grief, England pre WWII & the rise of Hitler and the "brownshirt" groups. I saw some flaws in Maisie's logic of undercover work but all and all it was a good read combining history and mystery.

THE JOY OF LEAVING YOUR SH*T ALL OVER THE PLACE : THE ART OF BEING MESSY BY JENNIFER MCCARTNEY.

THE JOY OF LEAVING YOUR SH*T ALL OVER THE PLACE : THE ART OF BEING MESSY BY JENNIFER MCCARTNEY.  I received this book from goodreads free in exchange for a honest and open review.
The first few chapters of the book were really funny . I thought now here's someone who knows how to keep her stress down. As the book progressed it got less funny and more redundant.  I hate knocking a book but with this one I think the author needs to rethink her sh*t and get it together & maybe write a book that doesnt use swear words in every sentence just because she can.

WIDOWMAKER PAUL DOIRON

I received this book from goodreads free in exchange for an open and honest review. This is the first of the Mike Bowditch books I've read but it certainly wont be the last!  In WIDOWMAKER BY PAUL DOIRON from the first minute Mike Bowditch meets Amber Langstrom he's in trouble!  Mike, according to Amber has a half brother & Amber wants Mike to find him.  Sounds easy right?  Wrong, Mike is up to his gun holster in trouble, action and death & he really didnt want to find Adam  Langstrom in the first place!

From page one to the nail biting ending Paul Doiron takes us to the backwoods of Maine and back again with death around every corner.  I loved reading about the backwoods of Maine,  but more than that I loved the fast paced nitty gritty, page turning action!

THE SECRET WISDOM OF THE EARTH BY CHRISTOPHER SCOTTON

I recieved this book from goodreads free in exchange for a review.   WOW FOLKS!  I'm not sure if the author can top THE SECRET WISDOM OF THE EARTH BY CHRISTOPHER SCOTTON.    I thought at first, ok just your run of the mill ho hum book about some kids childhood, boy I was wrong!  The people in the book are real,so real. I spent two weeks every summer with my grandparents in a small town just like Medgar.  The sights, the sounds and the people.  And poor Kenny, shuffled off to his grandfather after the horrific tragedy he witnessed and was accused of causing.  In Medgar he finds that the town is in its own crisis with a mining company trying to take the mountains down.  I couldnt stop thinking about the book, and the characters and cant wait to see what other wonderful stories Mr. Scotton has to share with us.

HUNTING IN THE ZOO: A DETECTIVE PETE NAZARETH NOVEL BY R.H.JOHNSON

I recieved this book free in exchange for a review.  HUNTING IN THE ZOO:A DETECTIVE PETE NAZARETH NOVEL BY R.H. JOHNSON.  WOW just doesnt begin to describe the fast paced wild ride of the second novel featuring Det.Nazareth.  Kick ass is more like it!  The pace never stops, it just keeps getting crazier and crazier.

Stone Jackson, formerly of the US military has a grudge to settle with one Drill Sgt  & anyone who gets in his way is going to get the crap beat out of him or dead!

Nazareth & his partner/soon to be ex partner, have their own issues. They are the darlings of NYPD & they get the tough cases.  Nothing is more tougher for them than babysitting a GOP candidate while he's in NY

The first book of Mr Johnson's WIDOW TAKER introduced us to the two detectives, this novel goes a step further and shows just how much fame can get you into to trouble especially if you are cops in NY.

I thought Mr. Johnson did a perfect job of this book and if you like your "police" novel mysteries fast, furious and at breakneck speed I highly recommend HUNTING IN THE ZOO!

t CRISIS OF CHARACTER BY GARY J BYRNE.

Condemn the author or condemn the subject of the author?  That's been the question swirling around the country about CRISIS OF CHARACTER BY GARY J BYRNE.  This book is part autobiography of the author himself, his years guarding the first families and as a federal marshall guarding American people and American aircraft from bad guys.  Was I surprised but what was in the book? NO!  Was I shocked? NO! Did I learn anything?  Yes I did. I learned there are people who will take a bullet to protect the first families whether they like them or not.  There are people out there who still believe no matter what that the President and their families as well as the VP are or about, they must take that bullet for them if needed.  I also learned there are some really whacky people out there trying to get into the Oval Office to "talk" with the President and the Secret Service and Uniformed Division must do their job.  I also learned a lot about the UD and their responsibilities. Like them or not these people are still out there protecting VIPS in our country.  I gained a whole lot of respect for them and what they put up with on a daily basis.

I also learned some about Hillary Clinton and the "Jekyll & Hyde" personality she is said to have.  If even half of what Mr. Byrne says is true, then I agree with him , we need to keep her as far away from the Oval Office as we can , as well as Bill.  The author wanted to make a point and I think he did.  For those of us who are not Hillary fans it wasnt necessary but for those who are still sitting on the fence (I have NO clue as to why they are) I think they need to know just how dangerous she really is. Most Hilary fans will send me nasty emails saying I hate my mother and Trump is more dangerous, & blah blah blah,  but thank God we still have the First Amendment and Mr.Byrne can write this book & I can comment on it.

Those of you who want to condemn the author for making this out as a autobiography you should be thankful that there are men and women out there who can make the claim that they protect the President and would take that bullet for them.  They deserve to be heard and thanked!

DEATH ON THE SAPPHIRE: A LADY FRANCES FFOLKES MYSTERY BY R.J.KORETO

DEATH ON THE SAPPHIRE:A LADY FRANCES FFOLKES MYSTERY BY R.J. KORETO is a first book in the Lady Frances series. A victorian era setting with a very very opinionated and college educated woman Lady Frances is caught not only in the mysterious death of a good friend but in a love triangle involving a cad of a man and her families solicitor.  When Lady Frances is not getting into trouble trying to find the answers of her friends death and the theft of his manuscript she is off to meetings to get the vote for women in England and to show just how independent she can be.  Its that independence that is not only causing social trouble but it can be dangerous as well.

I found the book very well written and structured for a first time writer and hope to read more of the Lady Frances series.

I received this book free from goodreads in exchange for a review.

THE EMPEROR'S REVENGE A NOVEL OF THE OREGON FILES CLIVE CUSSLER/BOYD MORRISON

THE EMPEROR'S REVENGE CLIVE CUSSLER AND BOYD MORRISON A NOVEL OF THE OREGON FILES.  I've said it before and I'll say it again I LOVE Cussler novels and this one is no different.  From page one you get a slice of history and an action packed deadly game of cat and mouse between the Juan Cabrillo and the Corporation and two modern day pirates who are not stealing booty but bucks, as in dollars, the Corporations dollars and Juan and his crew is NOT happy.  In the latest adventure Juan join forces with the feds to find the bad guys and along the way one of the team will not make it home, and that's the only spoiler i'm giving out! Fast paced high adventure, Cussler has never disappointed and with THE EMPERORS REVENGE  is no exception.  A must read of a thrill ride.

DOUBLED UP BY JERUSHA JONES

DOUBLED UP BY JERUSHA JONES:  This is the second of the series but the first book of the authors I have read.  This is stuck into the cozy mystery but that is ok with me because I enjoyed it immensely!

What's a girl to do when you day starts out with pounding rain,a trucker unconscious on the museums property who isnt what he seems, a federal investigation and an ex husband who wants to be apart of your life again?(more like a nuisance).

A very enjoyable, quick, quirky mystery that goes on my list of must read author again!

I recieved this book free from goodreads in exchange for a review.

Bill O'Reilly's Legends and Lies: The Patriots by David Fisher

Bill O'Reilly's Legends and Lies: The Patriots
by David Fisher
If you like or dont like Bill O'Reilly you have to read this book.  The book gives you an inside look to the Revolutionary war and its players.  Fact:  Paul Revere was not the only rider yelling that the british have landed, there were other men and women who rode that night.  Meet the hero's and the villains of the Revolutionary war in this book.  Take it from a history junkie like me this is a must read.

HIGH STRUNG BY JANICE PEACOCK

i recieved this book from goodreads in exchange for a review.  HIGH STRUNG BY JANICE PEACOCK is the first installment of the "beading" mystery.  Cozy mystery yes but as a first installment it was pretty good.  It took me till the last chapter to figure out the bad guy.  I found the book very entertaining because Jax the main character is kinda like any run of the mill woman, just your average person who loves crafting who has a cat who is psychic (mine too) and boyfriend trouble.  Her neighbor is a little wacky which makes her my fav character and I did learn that making glass beads is not any easy task, especially when faced with a murder, being on the suspect list along with your best friend & finding the local Detective cute and rather annoyed at you.  I cant wait to read the second installment but I do have one word of advice for the author if she reads this, the murder must come in  at the first half of the book not the second half.

A REASON TO LIVE BY BY MATTHEW IDEN

A REASON TO LIVE BY MATTHEW IDEN:  You want a fast paced hard core mystery then grab A REASON TO LIVE .  The main character our hero, Marty Singer is a hard nosed retired cop.  12 years ago he led the investigation into the death of a woman & a dirty cop was charged with her murder.  He got off scot free.  Marty is reminded of this case when the victims daughter now all grown up, comes to him and tells him the dirty cop is back and after her.  She needs his help.  The problem,Marty has been diagnosed with cancer and he really has to think this one out.

The twists and turns in this book makes A REASON TO LIVE  a re-read keeper in my book.

BEYOND THE ICE LIMIT BY DOUGLAS PRESTON & LINCOLN CHILD

BEYOND THE ICE LIMIT BY DOUGLAS PRESTON & LINCOLN CHILD. WOW just doesn't begin to describe this book!  BEYOND THE ICE LIMIT is one of those books that while I'm reading I forget to breathe!  The book(as the author's state)  can be read as a stand alone but to get the total impact read the Ice Limit!

The book starts five years after the failed attempt to retrieve a meteorite from a remote island off Chile.  Eli Glinn wants to destroy  the meteorite which is on the bottom of the ocean and he hypothesizes that this in no ordinary hunk of iron. Along with Gideon Crew and some members of his crew from the destroyed Rolvaag they set out to seek out and destroy what's "living" at the meteor site. Things go from bad to worse as the plot moves and boy does it move! Twists and turns, death all around, this is NOT going to end well folks.

I have been a fan of Preston/Child's books for a long time and have read and re read the ICE LIMIT and to date I think BEYOND THE ICE LIMIT is one of their best novels to date.

THE ZONDERLING BY KERSTI NIEBRUEGGE:

THE ZONDERLING BY KERSTI NIEBRUEGGE: I found this book totally hilarious!  The Zonderling(the residence) reminds me so much of the building my mom currently lives in.  The Zonderling is like a little community in itself.  NO MEN ALLOWED, unless they sign in, no air conditioning unless you open a window and catch a breeze and the women of the building are so different in their own ways . Then theirs our main character Heather who seems to be the only normal person there who walks into the Zonderling and falls in love with its outdated rules, outdated bathrooms (common bathroom) and the mix of bizarre tenants all under the strict rules of the "General"  The book is short 152 pages but it is joyously packed with unusual characters and a good read.

I received this book free thru goodreads in exchange for a review.

THE FIRST ORDER BY JEFF ABBOTT

I recieved this book free from goodreads in exchange for a review .  This is the first Sam Capra of the series I have read but it took me no time at all to play catchup on the series.  Sam is on the hunt for his brother Danny.  Danny, he thought was killed in Afghanistan , but was he?  From page one the hunt is on along with the killing, lying and betrayal Sam is facing in his hunt.  Who can Sam trust? Is Danny alive?  If he is why not say something?  I am NOT telling you the answers to the questions I recommend you read FIRST ORDER BY JEFF ABBOTT and find out yourself

WITH SILENT SCREAMS BY STEVE MCHUGH

WITH SILENT SCREAMS BY STEVE MCHUGH: action packed from page one to the very ending Nate Garrett is in deep trouble again, then so are the people who killed his human friend Bill Moon.  Nate is out for revenge plain and simple, kill the people who killed his friend and his wife.  Easy you think?  Heck no, when Nate Garrett is involved it gets really complicated real fast.

As you can tell I've gotten hooked on the "Hellequin Chronicles"  and cant say enough good things.  If you like Urban Fantasy and/or a mystery splattered with blood and gore, and meeting up with Nates friends,( I'm not telling who you get to hear from) read WITH SILENT SCREAMS and be ready for a rollercoaster spanning from the 70's to present day & from one end of the country to the other and back again!

COLOR ME F*CKING CALM:SWEAR WORDS TO COLOR AND DISPLAY BY HANNAH CANER.

i recieved this book from goodreads free in exchange for a review.  COLOR ME F*CKING CALM:SWEAR WORDS TO COLOR AND DISPLAY BY HANNAH CANER.  First of all there is NO word in there that I have never seen or said.

I think this is a hilarious book! I know, I should be shocked but hey like I said there ain't nothing here I haven't seen or said.  I counted 30 pages to color one sided.  When done tear em out frame them and hang them up for your mother or mother in law to see! My mom would laugh my mother in law would gasp but hey its art and who cares!

THE WHISTLEBLOWER'S DILEMMA: SNOWDEN,SILKWOOD AND THEIR QUESTS FOR THE TRUTH BY RICHARD RASHKE.

THE WHISTLEBLOWER'S DILEMMA: SNOWDEN,SILKWOOD AND THEIR QUESTS FOR THE TRUTH BY RICHARD RASHKE. I received this book from goodreads in exchange for a  review.

Traitor or hero?  That's the debate that is still raging about Edward Snowden. Did his exposing the meta data mining of millions of Americans not terrorists but Americans!  How about Karen Silkwood? She did the same as Snowden, compromised national security to tell , or try to tell the American public about the government corruption of the nuclear agencies and died(murdered) trying.  Two people who have to make a choice: ignore the lawbreaking or tell the country.  I found this book left me with more questions than answers.  The writing was not one sided but just presented the facts laid out and lets the reader decide.  I was totally impressed with Mr. Rashke's writing and how he laid out both stories to let me decide .

PRIDE V PREJUDICE BY JOAN HESS

I have been a fan of JOAN HESS'S for many years and read all her books,BUT I'm not sure if I could stomach one more like PRIDE V PREJUDICE!  Claire, still owner of the Book Depot, married to Peter the stud of a cop & still stuck with Caron her daughter & Inez Caron's faithful partner in crime.  La la la which is how I felt about the book. Hess took what I thought was going to be a funny book,(Claire gets herself thrown off a jury) & turned it into a mish mash plot of nothing.  I thought Claire finally getting to meet her mother in law would be great but it turned out to be boring as well.  Either MS Hess better get better plots or its bye bye Claire and company.  A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT FROM A DIE HARD JOAN HESS FAN!

FOLLOW THE DOTTED LINE NANCY HERSAGE

I recieved this ebook free in exchange for a review.  The author NANCY HERSAGE asked me to read/review FOLLOW THE DOTTED LINE She , in her email promised me a wacky read and she did not disappoint.  Imagine getting a burger box with your dead fathers cremated remains in it. Well folks this is how the book starts out.  (I will never look at fast food the same way again) The book was funny and fast just the way I like my book.

DEATH SITS DOWN TO DINNER BY TESSA ARLEN

DEATH SITS DOWN TO DINNER BY TESSA ARLEN:  Much to my pleasure the book kept me guessing till the last four chapters as to who killed Sir Reginald ( I got it half right)  Taken out of the age of Edwardian well to do, this historical mystery fiction kept me guessing which delighted me to the very end.  Twists, turns and a few false clues, the author keeps you reading until she (and Lady Montfort) are ready to unmask the evil doer.  So if you like your mystery with a touch of history  Ms Arlen provides.  I cant wait to get ahold of the first in the series as well as more of Lady Montfort and Mrs.Jackson's sleuthing!
I recieved this book from goodreads in exchange for a review.

CLARENCE OLGIBEE BY ALAN S KESSLER

CLARENCE OLGIBEE BY ALAN S KESSLER tells the tale first of Jimmy Tate Sullivan, who in 1974 stood by and watched his friends beat a black man to death.  Jimmy found guilty is sentenced to life in prison where his life,of course, makes a dramatic change .  That story is told first to lead the reader into CLARENCE OLGIBEE growing up in 1954, where we really learn that actions do present consequences no matter if they are good or bad actions. As the pages flip by you keep going deeper and deeper into the lives of Clarence and his friends & family, racism and class conflicts.  Its not a pretty book but it is a book that is worthy of a  read, and not a bad read from an "unknown author"  (mr. kessler's words not mine!) I see good things coming from this author!

I received this book free from the author in exchange for a review.

TRIVIA MADNESS: 1000 FUN TRIVIA QUESTIONS BY BILL O'NEILL

What ISNT to love about trivia?  I literally grew up loving trivia.  My brother was hooked and got me hooked on trivia.  He spent an entire study hall watching "Go Ask Alice" to find out what the phone number she called in the movie.  TRIVIA MADNESS: 1000 FUN TRIVIA QUESTIONS BY BILL O'NEILL'S book was a quick "read"  too quick in my opinion. Questions ranged from the 70's TV to 2015  questions.  Cant wait for the sequel to come out!  I received this ebook free from LibraryThing in exchange for a review.

THE TRAIN TO CRYSTAL CITY: FDR'S SECRET PRISONER EXCHANGE PROGRAM AND AMERICA'S ONLY FAMILY INTERNMENT CAMP DURING WWII BY JAN JARBOE RUSSELL

THE TRAIN TO CRYSTAL CITY: FDR'S SECRET PRISONER EXCHANGE PROGRAM AND AMERICA'S ONLY FAMILY INTERNMENT CAMP DURING WWII BY JAN JARBOE RUSSELL.  I have a love/hate relationship with history/non fiction.  I have LOVED history since I was in grade school.  I even won a prize in school for my "reporting" of the Civil War.  When I read this book it took me a couple of days to figure out how I was going to review it.  I HATE non fiction like this because it boggles my mind that this stuff is REAL not some imaginary story from an author.

The US actually took thousands of American citizens, men women and children into prison camps just because the parents were born in Japan, Germany or Italy.  The children(who are American citizens) lived behind the barbed wire, were guarded by American soldiers with guns at the ready & some were forced to go back to where their parents were born and live in a world they knew NOTHING about.   The book focuses on several of the children of German & Japanese parents & how their lives, their world was destroyed by Pearl Harbor .  These children did nothing to warrant their punishment nor did their parents except that they were  German, Japanese & Italian

We have all heard of what the Germans did to the Jews during WWII & I hope we never forget it.  But until I read this book I knew there were internment camps here but I never really knew the truth INSIDE the internment  camps.  A must read for people who have the same love/hate relationship of history as I do

THE GANGSTER BY CLIVE CUSSLER

I have always loved Clive Cussler's novels!  I have been a die hard fan of Cussler's for many many years & Issac Bell's adventures are no different.  Packed with non stop action Cussler(and Bell)  are on the streets of New York City circa 1906 where the Irish gang The Black Hand are destroying and killing the Irish communities.  The Van Dorn Agency is hired to stop them as well as other nefarious plots.

Loaded with history, action, mystery & yes a dash of romance THE GANGSTERS BY CLIVE CUSSLER is a non stop read with plenty of excitement for any reader!

I received this book from goodreads in exchange for a review.

KILLING KENNEDY:THE END OF CAMELOT BY BILL O'REILLY

KILLING KENNEDY:THE END OF CAMELOT BY BILL O'REILLY is another book in Mr.O'Reilly's "killing" series.  Mr. O'Reilly takes the reader back to 1960's  and JFK's very very short Presidency. The life, the wife, the women, the politics & the Mafia, Mr.O'Reilly takes us to see JFK, Jackie's life. Read the story of PT-109, of the Bay of Pigs and of the Missiles of October.  I thought I knew all there was to know about JFK but then I read Mr.O'Reilly's KILLING KENNEDY .  I also thought I knew about Oswald and his life but I read this book and found out a lot.  You can hate Bill O'Reilly but when it comes to these books you need to let the book stand on its own merit.  This is a must read for anyone who loves history.

TAKEN BY THE HIGHLANDER BY JULIANNE MACLEAN

TAKEN BY THE HIGHLANDER BY JULIANNE MACLEAN is the third book in the series but can be read as a standalone.  Its short, fast and way HOT! Logan MacDonald (or is that his REAL name?) is the kind of guy I'd like to find laying in the meadow, with or without a broken arm!

Logan, after a fight with his brother(typically over a girl) finds himself alone, with a broken arm in a meadow. After passing out Logan finds himself on the business end of a gun and holding that gun is the most beautiful woman Mairi Campbell. From there on the book sizzles !

JAPAN TOWN BY BARRY LANCET

JAPAN TOWN BY BARRY LANCET is a fast paced thriller that from page one is full of twists, turns & just when you think you have an answer, bang something else happens & you're right back scratching your head!  Loved every page of it.The characters are strong & just when I wanted to put the book down something happened and I was a few more chapters into the book!

THE HOUSE OF BARIC PART ONE:SHIELDS DOWN BY JILLIAN BALD

THE HOUSE OF BARIC PART ONE:SHIELDS DOWN BY JILLIAN BALD takes the reader to the 17th century, the people, the places and the time!  I loved this book!  You have to be on the ball because the author introduces you to a lot of characters very very quickly but as you move al0ng in the book you learn to know them and to want to learn more and more about them.  From Resi the woman who was promised to Mauro. to  Mauro and how he's so overwhelmed by an new wife a dead brother and a huge estate he is thrusted into running.  Each evening as I read more I wanted more I couldn't wait for more! THE STOLEN ONES BY OWEN LAUKKANEN

THE STOLEN ONES BY OWEN LAUKKANEN was a heart racing, fast paced page turner from page one.  The book starts with two sisters, kidnapped and locked in a box with other girls, transported from their homes by ship.  Transferred by truck the girls are taken out of the truck in bunches and the truck goes on down the road, until they reach Cass County where things start going horribly wrong.

I kept wanting to know what's next & to me when I ask that question I know the books a winner.

BUTTERFLY BY ELVY P. ROLLE

BUTTERFLY BY ELVY P.ROLLE is a children's book introducing youngsters the world of the butterfly and nature.  Beautiful illustration! I opened the book to read it and my breath was taken away by the beautiful colors!  The print(the story) is large enough so your child can follow along.  At the end of the book is suggestions on how to interact with your child, the book and the butterflies.  The detail to the butterflies and nature is outstanding!

I very seldom do children's books but I am very happy I got to review this one!

AT THE WATERS EDGE BY SARA GRUEN

This is the first book of Sara Gruen's I've read and loved every page of it.  Page turning, beautifully written novel about Madeline(Maddie) Hyde and her husband Ellis and his friend Hank. I felt as if I was living Maddie's life right there, every time I opened the book to read.  Maddie is dragged off,by her husband and his friend,  to Scotland during WWII to hunt the Loch Ness monster after making themselves shamefully drunk at a New Years party in Philadelphia.  After the horrible boat ride (a ship in their convoy was torpedoed) they find themselves at an inn with no electricity no running water and eating drawer porridge & whatever the inn's manager can hunt and kill.  Befriended by no one at first Maddie finally wins over the help (Meg) and the gentleman running the in Mr.Grant, who has a huge secret.  I fell in love with Maddie the first chapter!  The characters are so real and the writing so historical accurate you too will fall in love with AT THE WATERS EDGE!

IN THE UNLIKELY EVENT BY JUDY BLUME

IN THE UNLIKELY EVENT BY JUDY BLUME takes the reader into small town America where everyone knows everyone and when disaster strikes it affects one and all. This is the first of Judy Blume's books I've read so I cant compare it to any other of her works.  It took me a couple of chapters, and getting to know the characters before I could really get the book.  I wasnt to thrilled about the book going from one point of view to another person's point of view but I could keep up.  I liked the book enough to read more of Judy's work when I come across it in the future.

HARD CHOICES HILLARY CLINTON

HARD CHOICES BY HILLARY CLINTON would not be a book that I would pick up voluntarily.  I got this book thru our library as a "blind date" and boy was it a DOG!  Correct that, calling this book a DOG is an insult to canines all over the globe!  I tried my best not to be judgemental when starting this book but my conclusion after a couple of chapters is that it was mislabeled, it should be on the Fictional Fantasy shelves!  600 pages of bloviation and half truths is more than any one human being can tolerate & should be sent to Gitmo as an interrogation tool against our foes.
The only good thing that came out of the book is that a free hot chocolate from the library came with it!

BEFORE THE FALL BY NOAH HAWLEY

BEFORE THE FALL FROM NOAH HAWLEY is one of those books that DEMANDS that it be finished!  Page after page BEFORE THE FALL kept me wanting to know WHY and WHO! In other words, BEFORE THE FALL ranks way up there on my must read at least one more time list!

11 people, 11 lives all tossed together on a private jet & at the end only 2 come out alive.  Who or What brought the plane down?  That's the overall question that is plaguing not only the country but one survivor of the crash, Scott Burroughs a down and out painter.

Excellent!!  MUST READ!!

THE TRENCH ANGEL BY MICHAEL KEENAN GUTIEREZZ

THE TRENCH ANGEL BY MICHAEL KEENAN GUTIERREZ is a story of post WWI where men come home either physically or emotionally damaged by war. Its about one man, Neal Stephens who comes home from France with a secret, and he's being blackmailed for it.  In between the covers you walk thru time back to depression, hatred and brutality.

I found, reading this book, having to remind myself this is fiction, the characters so vividly portray what life could be like during that period.  The only complaint I have about the book is the type face, too light for me,otherwise an interesting read.

AMERICAN GODS BY NEIL GAIMAN

AMERICAN GODS BY NEIL GAIMAN.  What can one say about a book that you couldnt finish ?  There was NO plot that I could find. It was like walking into the middle of a mystery and being expected to know what the heck is going on! I guess I just didnt like what little I read of the book. My fault or the authors?  A friend who recommended the book loved it. To each his own I guess.

NEW ORDER A DECLUTTERING HANDBOOK FOR CREATIVE FOLKS(AND EVERYONE ELSE) BY FAY WOLF.

NEW ORDER A DECLUTTERING HANDBOOK FOR CREATIVE FOLKS(AND EVERYONE ELSE) BY FAY WOLF.  I LOVED it.  Not only do I get some great ideas on how to declutter my messy life(my husband's fault, not mine!) but I get a little humor along the way.  Its not a long book (174) pages, but what's between the covers is lots of good ideas that I have, and have not thought of to get my (and my families) act together. In the book it also give ideas where you can donate items, recycle items or just helpful hints to get you space in order.

THE OMNIVORE'S DILEMMA A NATURAL HISTORY OF FOUR MEALS BY MICHAEL POLLAN

First, I did not select this book!  Our local library has a "Blind date with a book" in Feb. & they wrap books in newspaper, people choose the books blind & you either rate it a dog or great. This is how I ended up reading THE OMNIVORE'S DILEMMA: A NATURAL HISTORY OF FOUR MEALS BY MICHAEL POLLAN.   When I first started the book I thought OMG a DOG! A DISASTER!  As I really got into the book I found myself immersed in how and where my food actually comes from. (sometimes the word gross kept peeking in my mind as well!)  The author did not just hit the net to research on where our foods comes from,he actually visited REAL locations.  I was so absorbed into the book I finished it in one sitting.

DO OR DIE BY SUZANNE BROCKMANN

DO OR DIE BY SUZANNE BROCKMANN is the first of this authors books I've read.  It was given to me by a friend who knows what I like to read.  The prologue ramped me up and at first I thought OMG I love this, but after that it took me a few chapters of reading to get me to wake up! In other words it was boring at first.  Keep reading  folks, the fireworks take awhile to burn!

Ian Dunn: ex SEAL, hot, handsome, thief(sometimes) & definitely a mystery is serving jail time for a crime he did not commit & the feds want him out of jail and into the cloak and dagger again. But here's the rub, Ian DOESN'T want out of jail.  Why?  Read DO OR DIE for yourself and figure that out!

13 HOURS THE INSIDE ACCOUNT OF WHAT REALLY HAPPENED IN BENGHAZI BY MITCHELL ZUCKOFF

13 HOURS:THE INSIDE ACCOUNT OF WHAT REALLY HAPPENED IN BENGHAZI BY MITCHELL ZUCKOFF has to be the most difficult book for me to review.  I wanted to read the book before seeing the movie so I did, in two nights.  Never in my life have I been so wanting a true account to be fiction as 13 HOURS.

Mr. Zuckoff did an excellent job and taking the reader(you and I) into the middle of how four Americans were slaughtered.  The anger & the pain of a group of men fighting, literally for their lives while people who were supposed to be tending to their safety sit in a meeting and watched the death and destruction via a drone.  Even now, I can remember the words of the communications person saying we are going to die here!  I think every American, whether Liberal or Conservative should see the movie or read this book! It made me laugh,it made me cry & it sure made me mad as hell to know the Americans in those compounds should have never died! The facts have been laid bare in 13 HOURS for all to see and I highly recommend EVERYONE read it!

ABOMINATION BY COLLEEN COBLE

ABOMINATION BY COLLEEN COBLE is the first book I have read by the author.  It has its good points and bad points.  Lets start with the good.  The first few pages were enough to grab me and keep me reading .  The plot itself was a page turner .I got so caught up in the story I missed my evening phone call to my mom that's how deep into it I was!  Now the bad,it only took me three chapters to figure out who the "woman & child by the side of the road" was.  And Andy, the policeman really needed to be made a little more lifelike.  A bit more research into police would help with that.  Other than those few negative points I really got into the book.  The serial killer was perfect, take the face off and have a half eaten sandwich with the bodies? Really creepy there I loved it!  I will be looking for more of MS COBLE'S books you can count on that!

THE ULTIMATUM DICK WOLF

Hang on folks,Jeremy Fisk is back and the trouble starts on the first page of DICK WOLF'S THE ULTIMATUM!  If it isn't the drug cartel gunning for him then its the reporter dogging him or worse the terrorist killing people randomly!

Fast paced and rarely a dull moment, THE ULTIMATUM takes readers straight into today's headlines with serial killers, terrorists and the drug cartels,  among others!  Fasten your seatbelts before reading THE ULTIMATUM because this one is a rollercoaster ride!

BLOODY ROYAL PRINTS BY REBA WHITE WILLIAMS

I do not like to make bad reviews on books but I promised a fair review so here goes:  BLOODY ROYAL PRINTS BY REBA WHITE WILLIAMS is the first book in the series I have read & if this is the sum of the series it will probably be the last I read.  The good news is you get two mysteries for the price of one. The bad news is it was mostly so obvious as to the answers of the mysteries it was a waste of my time!  I gave it two stars because of the two mysteries and I hate to give one star!

LADD SPRINGS BY DIANNE VENETTA

LADD SPRINGS BY DIANNE VENETTA is part contemporary romance, part mystery & I enjoyed it!  Set in the area along the Tennessee/North Carolina (I visit there every year so I know what its like)  you can see and feel the wilderness Delaney Wilkins and her family live in.  The book starts out pretty slow but it ramps up to a point where it ends being a contemporary romance and morphed into a pretty good mystery.

THE PASTORS KIDS BY CONNIE KRONLOKKEN

THE PASTORS KIDS BY CONNIE KRONLOKKEN is set in a small town in the 1960's focusing on the lives of three children Line, Marty & Paul, each growing up and living their lives very different but together.  Line who is the fighter of the weak, Marty who is pretty but wants to be something else & Paul who fights polio and sees the world as God sees it,full of nature and wonder.

I grew up in the 60's just like them , times of backyard fun, neighborhood friends & family.  Like them my family was struggling and I was wearing hand me downs & like them I had family &  I really identified with each of the children.  I really looked at this book as kind of my fictional family. The author made them so real you have to remind yourself this is fiction.
