WHO WINS : HISTORY BY CLAY SWARTZ

i recieved this book from goodreads in exchange for a review.  WHO WINS:HISTORY BY CLAY SWARTZ is a book that is not a book! Confused?  This book pits people from history, George Washington, Lincoln, Ghandi, etc against each other in a game of who would win a variety of challenges.  For instance:  Ping Pong Washington or Lincoln?  You also get a brief history of the person along with some fast facts.  I know this is not a book for older people like me but I found the description of it intriguing and had to see it for myself.  the author states that there are over 100,000 variations of this "book" and with the stats on the bottom of who excels in what its kinda a book really fun game and I had tons of fun just last night for a couple of hours pitting people of history like Margaret Thatcher vs Alexander the Great on who would win an Indy 500 challenge.  Get your kids engaged in history & have fun doing it at the same time.  This big kid had a ball with it!

THE MAD BATHROOM COMPANION. When the stress of life rises my reading needs turn to humor & this week its MAD!  I grew up with MAD MAGAZINE many many moons ago I used to sneak my brothers MAD magazines out of his closet & read them, that's how I got hooked.  This book is just a small compilation of MAD from the 80s and it was good to re read and laugh again.

JOURNEY TO MUNICH BY JACQUELINE WINSPEAR

I recieved this book from goodreads free in exchange for a review. JOURNEY TO MUNICH BY JACQUELINE WINSPEAR is the 12th in the Maisie Dobbs series. I have not ready any of the previous Maisie Dobbs books except the first book of the series so I am going to review this as a Masie newby!

Masie, recovering from the loss of her husband & child is in England at the home of a friend, when she is approached by an intelligence agent friend to take a secret undercover mission to Nazi Germany.  The book gave me loads of details of surroundings and characters so I could keep up with it.

This is a very darkly written book, written in a very dark time.  Maisie in grief, England pre WWII & the rise of Hitler and the "brownshirt" groups. I saw some flaws in Maisie's logic of undercover work but all and all it was a good read combining history and mystery.

THE JOY OF LEAVING YOUR SH*T ALL OVER THE PLACE : THE ART OF BEING MESSY BY JENNIFER MCCARTNEY.

THE JOY OF LEAVING YOUR SH*T ALL OVER THE PLACE : THE ART OF BEING MESSY BY JENNIFER MCCARTNEY.  I received this book from goodreads free in exchange for a honest and open review.
The first few chapters of the book were really funny . I thought now here's someone who knows how to keep her stress down. As the book progressed it got less funny and more redundant.  I hate knocking a book but with this one I think the author needs to rethink her sh*t and get it together & maybe write a book that doesnt use swear words in every sentence just because she can.

WIDOWMAKER PAUL DOIRON

I received this book from goodreads free in exchange for an open and honest review. This is the first of the Mike Bowditch books I've read but it certainly wont be the last!  In WIDOWMAKER BY PAUL DOIRON from the first minute Mike Bowditch meets Amber Langstrom he's in trouble!  Mike, according to Amber has a half brother & Amber wants Mike to find him.  Sounds easy right?  Wrong, Mike is up to his gun holster in trouble, action and death & he really didnt want to find Adam  Langstrom in the first place!

From page one to the nail biting ending Paul Doiron takes us to the backwoods of Maine and back again with death around every corner.  I loved reading about the backwoods of Maine,  but more than that I loved the fast paced nitty gritty, page turning action!

THE SECRET WISDOM OF THE EARTH BY CHRISTOPHER SCOTTON

I recieved this book from goodreads free in exchange for a review.   WOW FOLKS!  I'm not sure if the author can top THE SECRET WISDOM OF THE EARTH BY CHRISTOPHER SCOTTON.    I thought at first, ok just your run of the mill ho hum book about some kids childhood, boy I was wrong!  The people in the book are real,so real. I spent two weeks every summer with my grandparents in a small town just like Medgar.  The sights, the sounds and the people.  And poor Kenny, shuffled off to his grandfather after the horrific tragedy he witnessed and was accused of causing.  In Medgar he finds that the town is in its own crisis with a mining company trying to take the mountains down.  I couldnt stop thinking about the book, and the characters and cant wait to see what other wonderful stories Mr. Scotton has to share with us.

HUNTING IN THE ZOO: A DETECTIVE PETE NAZARETH NOVEL BY R.H.JOHNSON

I recieved this book free in exchange for a review.  HUNTING IN THE ZOO:A DETECTIVE PETE NAZARETH NOVEL BY R.H. JOHNSON.  WOW just doesnt begin to describe the fast paced wild ride of the second novel featuring Det.Nazareth.  Kick ass is more like it!  The pace never stops, it just keeps getting crazier and crazier.

Stone Jackson, formerly of the US military has a grudge to settle with one Drill Sgt  & anyone who gets in his way is going to get the crap beat out of him or dead!

Nazareth & his partner/soon to be ex partner, have their own issues. They are the darlings of NYPD & they get the tough cases.  Nothing is more tougher for them than babysitting a GOP candidate while he's in NY

The first book of Mr Johnson's WIDOW TAKER introduced us to the two detectives, this novel goes a step further and shows just how much fame can get you into to trouble especially if you are cops in NY.

I thought Mr. Johnson did a perfect job of this book and if you like your "police" novel mysteries fast, furious and at breakneck speed I highly recommend HUNTING IN THE ZOO!

t CRISIS OF CHARACTER BY GARY J BYRNE.

Condemn the author or condemn the subject of the author?  That's been the question swirling around the country about CRISIS OF CHARACTER BY GARY J BYRNE.  This book is part autobiography of the author himself, his years guarding the first families and as a federal marshall guarding American people and American aircraft from bad guys.  Was I surprised but what was in the book? NO!  Was I shocked? NO! Did I learn anything?  Yes I did. I learned there are people who will take a bullet to protect the first families whether they like them or not.  There are people out there who still believe no matter what that the President and their families as well as the VP are or about, they must take that bullet for them if needed.  I also learned there are some really whacky people out there trying to get into the Oval Office to "talk" with the President and the Secret Service and Uniformed Division must do their job.  I also learned a lot about the UD and their responsibilities. Like them or not these people are still out there protecting VIPS in our country.  I gained a whole lot of respect for them and what they put up with on a daily basis.

I also learned some about Hillary Clinton and the "Jekyll & Hyde" personality she is said to have.  If even half of what Mr. Byrne says is true, then I agree with him , we need to keep her as far away from the Oval Office as we can , as well as Bill.  The author wanted to make a point and I think he did.  For those of us who are not Hillary fans it wasnt necessary but for those who are still sitting on the fence (I have NO clue as to why they are) I think they need to know just how dangerous she really is. Most Hilary fans will send me nasty emails saying I hate my mother and Trump is more dangerous, & blah blah blah,  but thank God we still have the First Amendment and Mr.Byrne can write this book & I can comment on it.

Those of you who want to condemn the author for making this out as a autobiography you should be thankful that there are men and women out there who can make the claim that they protect the President and would take that bullet for them.  They deserve to be heard and thanked!
