THE WHITE CITY BY GRACE HITCHCOCK

What a truly entertaining and a great start to what I hope to be a long series.  WHITE CITY ,BY GRACE HITCHCOCK  is set in Chicago  in 1893.
 Winnifred Wylde,daughter of Inspector Wylde of the Chicago police,witnesses a kidnapping of a young woman at the Chicago World's Fair.  Winnifred (Winnie to her friends), tells her father. At first her father doesn't believe her,yet with a little badgering assigns Detective Thorpe to assist her and follow her for her protection. 

Thoroughly entertaining with true life added in the story this is a great read.   The bad guy,  H.H.Holmes was a real serial killer and did do his dirty deeds in the past.  Hitchcock has done a really good job using this monster for her debut of a new series.  I just hope she can match the pace of  WHITE CITY with here future books.

HOTEL SACHER BY RODICA DOEHNERT

HOTEL SACHER BY RODICA DOEHNERT .  I chose this book as  because I thought it look to be about a women defeating all odds in a time and place where women were no more than breeders of heirs. Boy was I wrong.  The book tells the story of multiple people whose lives are connected to the Hotel Sacher .  It is a historical fiction. It is a story of romance, lust , divorce and lies.  And I found it incredibly boring!  I did not finish it because it was just so monotonous . As a love story I would give it maybe two and a half stars no more than that.

THOSE PEOPLE BY LOUISE CANDLISH

THOSE PEOPLE BY LOUISE CANDLISH starts out very innocently:  small neighborhood in UK.  Everyone knows everyone and everyone's business. People get along,for the most part. Its peaceful,quiet and typical until Darren and Jodie show up.  Darren starts with destroying not only the favorite tree but a wall that's been there forever.  Heavy metal music at all hours, and the cars.  Darren is running a used car lot/ car repair out of his home. Both Darren and Jodie are foulmouth and Darren hate dogs and people.  The neighborhood goes to hell in a handbasket from the moment they move in.  The neighbors all agree ,  Darren and Jodie have to go,by hook or by crook.  So when Darren turns up dead, the neighborhood has just one question,who was the brave soul to do the deed?

I like the way the book is set up.  As each chapter starts you "hear"the comments of the person to the police and each chapter focuses on that character and his involvement.  It works really well as the storyline goes. You get to hear the police interview and the flashbacks give the reader a plot detail.  As for the plot detail it took me to the end of the book to figure out who done it because not only does the entire neighborhood have a motive but they have the good of the rest of the neighborhood behind them.

A TOUCH OF TERROR BY GARY PONZO

A TOUCH OF TERROR (NICK BRACCO THRILLER #6) BY GARY PONZO is my first experience with reading this series and I am hooked.  From the very first page you get a non stop kick ass thrill ride.

Nick and his partner are after a rogue Russian who is trying to bring in components for a dirty bomb.  This Russian is no ordinary human.  He has a bionic eye & a kevlar vest stapled to his body (a little hard to believe about the vest ). This guy will stop at nothing to get and detonate the bomb in the US. 
I do have one small issue here and that's the amount of characters.  You almost need a scorecard to keep track of all the principals in the book. Other than that , it is a very fast paced read and a very entertaining book.

  If you are into the fast paced, us against them type of book A TOUCH OF TERROR is for you.
