CROWN JEWEL BY CHRISTOPHER REICH

CROWN JEWEL BY CHRISTOPHER REICH is the second in the SIMON RISKE (SILENT E)  series.  This is the only one of his novels I have read.   I give it a four stars because the action is non stop, and fast paced.  When I read it I thought right away that the authors description of Mr Riske IS very Bondish.  The guy cant even drive down the highway without being followed and someone trying to kill him! 

Like I said before I do like, from the very first chapter,the fast plot action.  What keeps me from giving it 5 stars is the multiple plots that make the book kind of hard to follow.  We have Simon trying to find out who is stealing millions from a Monte Carlo casino. We have him in a timed classic car race,Simon dealing with a Yacht show,Simon and the girl ,Simon and the kidnapping and the list just goes on making the plot just a little too hectic to really sink ones teeth into.  I know I like the character and I know I love the writing but the multiple plots get to be just a little too much to deal with.

HIS EXCELLENCY:GEORGE WASHINGTON

I hate history books that are dry and "just the facts ma'am!"  HIS EXCELLENCY:GEORGE WASHINGTON BY JOSEPH J ELLIS is perfect!  Mr.Ellis has buried himself into the Washington letters,journals and everything he could get his hands on, to come up with this book.  Well written,with plenty of documentation of his sources, it is NOT dry reading!  Some of the facts about Washington I knew from other books I have read and some not.  Mr.Ellis has put a lot of years into research and come up with a very good picture of HIS EXCELLENCY : GEORGE WASHINGTON.

BLACKOUT BY JOHN J NANCE

BLACKOUT BY JOHN J NANCE is the second in the Kat Bronsky series but its the first of the series and the author's books I've read.  Great read folks!  Tons of action and twists that kept me on the edge of my seat !  I held my breath waiting to see what came next,its that engrossing!


Kat is a FBI agent sent to Hong Kong to speak at a seminar on terrorism when she gets mixed up with a reporter who is being hunted down .  Kat and the reporter,Robert MacCabe board a flight to head back to the US when Kat is pulled off the plane at the last minute.  Good thing too, that flight never makes it back to the US! 

I love mysteries and I love thrillers and I can guarantee that BLACKOUT will keep you up well into the night to find out who is doing what!

DEVIOUS BY LISA JACKSON

Leave it to author LISA JACKSON to come up with another great thriller!  In DEVIOUS, we have a serial killer who is going after nuns. The deaths are quick and the crime scene gruesome but Detectives Montoya and Bentz  are on the scene and what makes this one more difficult is that the victims are known,even once friends.  the two detectives must stop this person before they kill and kill again!


I have been a fan of Lisa Jackson and her books.  The thriller DEVIOUS shows that she is not slowing down when it comes to a heck of a good read.  Think you got the killer named? Guess again!  And to me that is what a makes a good thriller.

TITANIC SECRET (ISAAC BELL,#11) BY CLIVE CUSSLER

I was really looking forward to reading this because,like a lot of us Cussler fans, we have read and probably re read "Raise the Titanic" Unfortunately, I was disappointed in TITANIC SECRET.  I really hate to use the word boring but lets face it, TITANIC SECRET is somewhat boring.  Yes,there are a few parts of the book that are what I call page turners,but for the most part it was pretty dull. 

In TITANIC SECRET, Isaac Bell is dead and buried and Dirk Pitt gets some papers from his lawyer that tells the backstory of the Titanic, the miners and the cargo that theoretically when down with the Titanic.  Literally,thru the pages of time Pitt gets to relive the secret.  The secret that went to the grave not only with the miners but with Isaac Bell as well. 

One thing I do like about TITANIC SECRET is that Cussler has given the reader, along with Dirk Pitt closure on one of the novels Cussler wrote in the past.  Other than that......well you be the judge.

VOICES IN THE FOG BY THOMAS J. NICHOLS :  Christie  Cole is a brand spankin new grad from FBI Quantico .  She is approached by two men right after graduation to join a very special,highly secret government covert operation.  So covert only very very few people knows it exists.  The catch:  Christie must cease to exist!  Which,for Christie is not such a difficult thing.  All of her relatives are dead and she is basically alone in the world. 

VOICES IN THE FOG is a political thriller with the emphasis on THRILLER!  In all honesty, it does take a few chapters to get the book moving,but, when it does you cant stop reading until the very end.  What is most scary about the book is that it could happen,or worse, could be happening right now,and we would never realize it !  I really hope we get to see more of Anna Marie and Ron in the future.

ZERO DAY BY DAVID BALDACCI

ZERO DAY BY DAVID BALDACCI, is the first in the John Puller series.

John Puller, war hero and Army CID investigator is called in and assigned to investigate a homicide in a small mining town in West Virginia.  It seems that a mail carrier, needing a signature on a package has discovered that a general and his entire family has been murdered.  When Puller arrives, he finds the body count going higher and higher, including a local police officer. Puller, along with Sam Cole,local officer, find more than just bodies in Drake, West Virginia. 

What a story folks!  The twists and turns of the book just kept me off balance. If you think ZERO DAY is just another murder story, you are totally dead wrong. What a great start to a series!
